Port of Hueneme Business Alliance
To be responsible advocates to engage local communities to inform, educate and collaborate our shared values of hard work by perpetuating good jobs through economic development.
Securing jobs and stability for the local workforce
Willenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Americas joins BMW North America and GLOVIS America to secure their presence at the Port of Hueneme with long-term contracts. Representing over 53% of the Port’s cargo revenue, the automobiles being imported will reach more than 13 states. In addition, the Port also exports General Motors and U.S.-manufactured Honda automobiles to South Korea.
On December 19, 2018, the Port of Hueneme concluded a three-month long effort to fill a shipping container with donated school supplies and goods to help children in need living in Guatemala. This was partnership with the ILWU Local 46, Chiquita, and El Lustrador Foundation. The container headed for Puerto Quetzal, the major West Coast Port of Guatemala. Upon arrival, Port delegation will meet the container in Guatemala and see its delivery to the school children living at the Zona Tres trash dump on the outskirts of Guatemala City.
A win for fairness for local families and workers
In December, the Oxnard Harbor District Board of Commissioners took a historic step in signing a Project Labor Agreement. The first of its kind in the Port’s 81-year history, the Agreement will ensure local labor for all Port projects estimated at or over $250,000. The PLA will last for three years and may be extended by mutual consent of both the Port and the Unions.
